Result of the COVID 19 antigen rapid test
The results refer to the detection of SARS-CoV-2 antigens as usual for rapid tests . Generally, antigen is detectable in the upper respiratory tract during the acute infectious phase of COVID-19. Positive results of a self-test indicate that viral antigens are present. However, clinical correlation with patient history and other diagnostic information is necessary to determine infection status.
It is important to note that negative results do not completely rule out infection with SARS-CoV-2. If infection is suspected due to symptoms or contact with an infected person, then it is advisable to repeat the self-test if the result is negative, for example the next day.
